The General George Casey Awards: A Celebration of Mediocrity

Each week we will honor an individual who exceeds in being mediocre and completely irrelevant to their profession, their country and/or their maker. Named in honor of the mortal embodiment of these traits, General George Casey,  this award will recognize those that fall into the class of: far from greatness, yet they don’t stare at the Ferris Wheel for hours either. So congratulations to all of those who stand inches away the DMZ of worthlessness and average.

Casey on the right, really wants to put his hand over his heart but is in uniform. “What do I do?” Stand at attention? Awkward!

Casey Award given in the world of Cinema to:

Gary Oldman

Gary Oldman: Mediocre at best, overrated at worst

We must never forgive him for his performance in The Professional. Gary Oldman has been screaming incoherently and spitting like a rabid Danny Glover for over 18 years now. We silently cheered when we thought he was dead in Dark Knight and wanted to vomit during his performance in Lost in Space. Air Force One, Dracula… I am not using a printer ink cartridge, I can go on all day.

He now is mastering the art of ruining films and projects with his voice only. Call of Duty: World at War, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Christmas Carol and Planet 51.

We endured his cosmic mediocrity for so long that we honor him with a Casey Award.
